Can I move the Switch King server to a different computer?

Yes, you can.

Follow this procedure:

1) Stop the Switch King services on the computer where the server is running (Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services)

2) Make a copy of the database, switchKing.server.db3, containing schedules and devices on the computer you are moving from. The database is typically found here:
C:\Program Files\Switch King\Switch King Server\DB\
Put the copy in a place you can access from the new computer.

3) Install TelldusCenter first and then Switch King server on the new computer.
Note! Clear the option to start the Switch King services after the server has been installed. Install a version of the server with the same or higher version than you used on the old computer.

4) When the installation is done, copy the database that you made a copy of to the folder "DB" in the Switch King folder on the new computer (and overwrite the existing file that is there - it is empty).

5) If you are connecting to Switch King Server from another computer or from a mobile client (iPhone, iPad or Android), you need to open up ports 8800 and 8080 in your firewall. How this is done is depending on which firewall you are using. If the ports are closed, you will not be able to connect to Switch King Server from a remote computer or client.

6) Restart the computer

7) When the computer has been restarted, install and start the Switch King client and connect to the computer where the Switch King server is installed.

8) When starting the client you will be asked if the devices in the database should be added to TelldusCenter. Select to add the devices. You will not have to add your devices using TelldusCenter.
Note! Make sure that TelldusCenter is closed when adding the devices. Select Exit in the File menu if TelldusCenter has been started (it is not sufficient to click X to close the program).

9) Done!
